Angels and Demon Drink

As I was walking through Belfast City Centre I kept thinking to myself “Whatever, you do, don’t look away, and don’t blink! Blink and you’re dead!”. Gentle reader you may think OMG has Geri been celebrating Saint Paddy’s Day early and she is having a case of the old delirium tremens? Fear not my mind has just harkened back to the ‘Doctor Who’ episode ‘Blink’ penned by Stephen Moffat. In which our trusty Timelord in his David Tennant incarnation fought the ‘weeping angels’ and warned the viewer not to blink. Because today everywhere I looked I was surrounded by angels.

These 8 foot tall angels had taken over Belfast’s premier mall the ‘Victoria Square’. As you can see from the photographs they came from on high in a multitude of colours and designs. These 41 angels were brought here by Nollaig Fahy a Dublin artist and he has called this exhibition ‘Angels: Beacons of Hope’. Each of the angels had been designed by Irish individuals or celebrities. Celebrities such as Jedward, Uma Thurman, Neil Jordan, Padraig Harrington, Brian O'Driscoll, Father Ted’s Mrs Doyle (Pauline McGlynn) and David Evans better known as The Edge from U2.

So if you want to share my angelic experience you have until Sunday 14th March. So go on go on go on go on go on go on go on you know it will be a sight to behold. I’m just away for a little drop of tea, none of that demon drink for me.
